Bullying and inappropriate conduct in the workplace and who to notify

Bullying and inappropriate conduct is a risk to health and safety as they can cause both psychological and physical harm. Safe Work Australia has several guidelines on workplace bullying, inappropriate conduct including sexual harassment, online abuse, and workplace violence and aggression

If you have been bullied or experienced inappropriate conduct, it is important to respond quickly. Who to report the conduct to, will depend on the conduct being reported. As a guide please see below:

We encourage you to notify the NSW Resources Regulator if your case meets the following criteria:

  • you work in a mining workplace in NSW
  • the conduct you are reporting meets the definition of bullying, inappropriate conduct or workplace violence
(Fact sheet: Workplace bullying (PDF, 88.94 KB)) or sexual harassment or sexual assault (Fact sheet: Sexual harassment) (PDF, 90.67 KB) and
  • you have either
    • reported it to your workplace and there has been no action, or you believe that the action taken was inappropriate, or
    • you are unable to report it in your workplace because there is no procedure, or you are concerned for your health and safety.

To notify us, please complete our Form - Reporting harmful workplace behaviours (DOCX, 78.19 KB).
