Work health and safety reports for the 2019/20 financial year were due by 31 July 2020. If you are a mine operator that meets the criteria, login to the Regulator Portal and submit any outstanding annual work health and safety reports.
Requirements have changed
For 2019-20 reports, mine operators must submit a report covering the entire 12-month period.
Mine operators no longer have to submit work health and safety reports if:
- the total number of hours (including additional shifts and overtime) worked at the mine by workers is less than 10,000 hours during the reporting period as specified by the Regulator, or
- exploring for minerals is the only mining operations carried out at the mine during the reporting period as specified by the Regulator.
Regulatory action
Failure to submit annual work health and safety reports is an offence and may result in regulatory action being taken including:
- penalty notices of $720 for individuals and $3,660 for corporations and/or
- court imposed penalties of up to $6,000 for individuals and $30,000 for bodies corporate.
