Quarterly Safety Report January to March 2024

The NSW Resources Regulator has published its Quarterly Safety Report – January to March 2024 to help mine and petroleum site operators meet their obligations under the work health and safety legislation.

The report highlights dangerous and high potential incidents as well as safety performance and regulatory activities across coal, large (non-coal) mines and quarries, small mines and quarries (including gemstones), opal mines, petroleum and geothermal sites, and exploration sites.

In the report, there were a total of 533 incident notifications received, a 4% decrease from the same period in FY 2023. An increase in incident notifications for the large mines sector by 15% and decreases for coal mines (11%) and small mines (27%).

The Regulator is committed to sharing safety information about significant mining-related events and fatalities to increase industry awareness.
